We are here to unplug men from problems, fears, worries, struggles and suffering, to bring awareness to false ideas about how men “should” be, and to reconnect them to their true self, their heart, nature, and a powerful, supportive tribal brotherhood.

Our aim is to become rooted in a pure and strong masculinity in order to serve something far greater.

This journey moves us beyond concepts of what men should be, how we should behave, and how we ought to feel. It combines the wisdom of the indigenous mind with the spiritual enquiry of the Eastern traditions.

Together we will create a structured community for men to share and grow – with rites of passage, tribal gatherings, councils of elder wisdom, and deep enquiry into the nature of our being. And we will do this with fun, love, respect and honour.

We want to help men discover what true masculinity really is, to root them in their manhood so they can live their full potential, and return to their communities, families, work and environments stronger and more able to serve with their full capacity and agency as Men.

The Tribe of Brothers is deeply honoured to host and guide this conversation about what it takes to be a man in the 21st century.

The Retreat

We will come together for a one-week retreat to create our tribe. During this time, we will explore:

  • The role of men in 21st century Western culture
  • The relationship of men to women
  • The role of men in family and community
  • The kinship of men to their environments
  • The connection between men and their emotions and feelings
  • The interrelationship between men and change

The Journey

The Tribe of Brothers retreat is where we leave our tamed, conceptual selves at the door. Crossing the threshold, we will continue the traditions and receive the wisdom of the 10,000 generations of men who came before us, asking them for guidance.

Together we will engage in:

The tribal rite of passage – moving from one phase of life to the next, leaving behind what no longer serves us while welcoming the new: growth, wisdom, strength, acceptance, forgiveness and awareness. The rite begins with the Death Lodge – a symbolic ceremony to prepare for the good death – followed by the Sweat Lodge, where we are reborn into a new phase of life.

The tribal quest – after the sweat lodge, we embark on a solitary time of contemplation in nature: a day and a night alone in the wild. Here you step out of time and into the spirit and animal worlds, learning their ancient wisdom. As the sun rises, you will cry for your vision and accept what is offered in this sacred encounter.

The tribal song – our voices are often drowned out by the demands of modern life. Together we rediscover the power of our voices, our capacity to express what we feel and be heard. By creating our own tribal song, we lift our voices high, sharing our music with trust and joy.

The tribal nature connection – reconnect with stillness and root yourself in the earth, drawing up her power and energy. Like the warriors of old, you will meet and spend time with horses, deepening that ancient bond. By meditating, sitting by the river, learning to listen like the owl and see like the panther, we dissolve the boundaries between ourselves and the natural world.

The tribal council – a safe circle where we bring into the light what has long been hidden: shame, guilt, fear, resentment, anger, trauma, lies, repression, blame. Together we expose their untruth and transform them, moving into freedom, love and strength.

The tribal games – remembering the joy of playfulness, adventure and exploration. Play is a forgotten way to create bonds of brotherhood, to build strength and resilience, trust and compassion, laughter, release and freedom.

The Discovery

What you will take away from this journey of self-discovery:

  • To accept yourself and your masculinity more deeply
  • To develop tools and strength for emotional and spiritual healing
  • To cultivate greater resilience in facing change
  • To manage stress and find inner stillness
  • To open to deeper, more loving and meaningful relationships with women
  • To foster a renewed sense of trust
  • To build a deep connection to a tribe of brothers – a supportive brotherhood that will continue to hold you and support each other on your journeys beyond the retreat
  • To bring these gifts back to your families, communities and environments, serving them with strength, clarity and love

Our Offering to You

On arrival, you will be presented with a personalised survival knife – symbolic of our commitment to you and your journey. A tool to help you cut ties with the past and to craft a strong and beautiful future.

We will help you unplug from what holds you back – personally and as men in general. We will help you see and accept the man who lies beneath the limits and concepts of the modern world. We know you will be glad to meet him.
